I have created this blog as a source of communication within The Bayshore. Use this to post messages, notices, important reminders, ask a question or to begin a discussion about something going on at the Bayshore. Please keep it friendly!!

  3. Our new keys are great, much better security. Another one of The Bayshores projects completed. The new fire alarm systems in our condos are coming too--these are valuable in making us safer and more current.

  4. Our Pensacola Country Club neighbors have a GREAT new golf course and state of the art tennis courts. Terrific location for us golfers at The Bayshore, also pleasant to watch the greens from my balcony.

  6. A unique new amenity is the use of a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, living room & complete kitchen suite with a patio located on the 1st floor for visits of our family and guests. This is a wonderful feature that Bayshore has developed for its residents!

  8. That double-sided colorful handout on the Bayshore Amenities and Area Activities list is just AWESOME! Bayshore has a tremendous amt. to offer its residents. Great photography of the bay & golf course skyview - all compliments of Dawn Marino and ERA Beach Ball Realty. Makes a very professional presentation. Really showcases the place.   9. That is a really nice new sign at Bayshore for the directions to the BEACH - good nautical colors of blue & white. Helps direct pool & beach traffic to the right entrance/exit. Even in January we have our faithful pool users.

  10. Terrific effort by Bonnie Joyner, units 807 & 808, to organize & clean the Patio Room bookcases. Gifts of puzzles, books and games are appreciated. Thank you Bonnie for improving this area, a real plus in the Amenities at Bayshore.

  11. The Sales & Rental wooden rack is REALLY nice on the first floor! It helps showcase all the amenities, activities, sales & rentals by all realtors available at Bayshore. Very convenient!

  18. The newsletter Bayshore Breeze has just been started again with the Jan. 2009 issue! It features new owners coming into the bldg., Upcoming Events, Friendly Reminders from the Manager's Office, Wish List, Announcements, etc. This is a beautiful way to start this new year!

  21. Early voting has begin for the election of officers on the Bayshore Board of Directors. Seven officers are chosen for one-year terms. Owners already have their ballots and can vote, seal & SIGN their ballots now. Place the sealed & SIGNED ballots in a box in the Manager's office!

  23. WOW - the Bayshore upgrade man is at it again. Special thanks to Roland Namtvedt for the bigtime efforts in upgrading several Bayshore units - new cabinets, tiles, paint jobs, carpets--he's the improvement owner with work crews in of several units. THANX Roland!

  28. The ARTS performance at Bayshore was just wonderful tonite! Slides by Bobbe Weeks, Claire de Lune music by Debussy & in a candlelight setting-it was a relaxing evening enjoyed by all. Nice little souvenirs of the lights too.

  31. How nice to wake up this morning and see from my window the 4-tiered fountain flowing again! A strong wind had knocked it down & it needed repair. Special thanks to the Resident Conditts, Manager Jenny Johnson, Maintenance Paul Hulen & Janitor Danny Cook, it was repaired, the bricks were painted & water flowed again! Big kudos to that team effort!

  34. HOORAY, Bayshore has 3 new cigarette butt receptacles now in the front, back & side entrances. Residents need to use these prior to entering the bldg. Thanks Jenny(Manager) for making this all possible.

  35. Just discovered the link, PENSACOlA HISTORY on the Home Page. Never knew that it was one of oldest settlements in the US. Great photos of the Blue Angels, beautiful & spectacular sugar white beaches and so much more of past & present. This is the best video I've ever seen on Pensacola - go check this out! Thank You! Thank You!

  37. CAUTION!! The garage elevator floor has been replaced. At all times, watch your fingers & steps on entrances/exits. Thank you, Paul Hulen, Bayshore's maintenance man & the lady with the visor for putting up the Caution signs on each floor.

  38. Just saw the Bayshore FAQs section and learned so much. That's an ENORMOUS amt. of good information about Bayshore & the surrounding area. Always wondered about how to get things done, those water & golf side units numbers that they end with were confusing & lots of other great little tips. Especially like the little section on Bargains & Specials in the local area here.

  40. Special acknowledgement of Joan Allen #1108 who has volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Haven for 11 yrs. The Haven is a division of Sacred Heart. It is good to know that we have such kind, giving residents at Bayshore. Joan is also a team player who attends many of our functions.

    Remember that NO DOORMATS are to be used in front of your door, regardless of how cute you think they are. This can be a REAL hazard when there is a FIRE & people are fleeing the hallways to the FIRE EXITS. Also, remember to not use the elevators in a fire. As to the DOORMAT, put it INSIDE by the sliding glass doors.

  48. Wonderful to learn that this newly discovered web site at www.bayshorecondominims.com has a FAQs section. My friend asked if it was a FAQs or a FAAQs? Just didn't know that a FAAQs was Frequently Asked & Anticipated Questions. FAQs is OK for us at Bayshore. Thank you for whoever took the time to do this - just found out in the FAQs that NO CARDBOARD BOXES ARE TO BE PLACED IN THE DUMPSTER ON THE WEEKEND!

  50. The Valentine's Sunday Brunch was a well-attended, knock out success! Everyone brought goodies to share. Helen McGrath's (Unit 302) strawberry topped dessert was just so beautiful with eye appeal, I hated to cut the first piece. Grapevine says a Mardi Gras Pancake Nite on Feb. 24th & an authentic Irish dinner is coming on March 17th.

    Last nite an active otter was spotted on the Bayshore Beach. This was a real treat to see this animal just enjoying himself. What wonderful waterfront views this bay has & Bayshore is the spot to be!

    Early Sunday morning, an exploring otter going eastward was spotted on Bayshore's beach, along with small ducks bobbing up & down & egrets & sea gulls chasing each other for fishing areas.
    Now, Monday the pelicans decided to visit.

  59. Brenda Fitzsimons, #903 has a granddaughter Megan Doucett as a student in PJC Dental Hygiene School on Hwy 98. As a graduating senior, Megan gives the BEST screening for oral cancer, X-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatment plus some little dental goodies. SMART TIP: Call PJC at 484-2236 to make an apt & ask for "Megan"--this is one of the best bargains in oral hygiene & only requires a little of your time.

  60. It's thoughtful Elizabeth Gremillion (Ibsie) #304! On a recent visit to the Warrington Post Office, she returned with several Flat Rate & Priority Mail Boxes for the Bayshore Mail Room. These were placed near the cabinet - now residents can save an extra trip to the post office just to get a special box. THANKS IBSIE!

  61. Big effort by Manager Jenny Johnson on updating the BAYSHORE OWNER AND RESIDENT PHONE ROSTER. This is constantly changing information and a challenge & chore to keep it current. Kudos to her for staying on top of this. I like the latest addition of the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY to the list -- that info is needed ASAP when you get a new phone.

Bottles of champagne, bottles of wine, beer kegs, napkins, placemats are arriving -- I don't know where the CAPTAIN is hiding all the stuff - the Grapevine says that the stash is somewhere on the second floor - maybe Robert Fox in #200?

  67. The tribute is continuing to arrive at Bayshore for the Mardi Gras pancake & party nite! Now, we've got a jug of special maple syrup from New Hampshire being sent to the party by Bobbe & Tyler Weeks #400. Tyler says it is also called "Hammy Juice", should go nice on the pancakes. That will help make the entrance way royally decorated for the Mardi Gras nite. THANKFULLY, she also tipped that Bayshore has a box of Mardi Gras decorations.

My gosh, that makes the number 4 - surely, I thought that Cleon Gomila #1204, Elizabeth Gremilion (Ibsie) #304 & Dr. Rita Maher #205 (all from New Orleans area) knew EVERYTHING about Mardi Gras!   77. FLY ON THE WALL just heard the CAPTAIN say that there will be special Mardi Gras music at the pageant on Tuesday at 6:00+ PM. Heard they will play Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill", "Fire on the Bayou", "Rockin Pneumonia & The Boogie Woogie Flu", "Mardi Gras Mambo" and ++++? Let's hope that Mona Alexander & Micheal Shell #1206 get it right - we've even got the music to "Right Place, Wrong Time" - hopefuly they will remember it is this Tuesday at 6:00 PM!   78. The CAPTAIN has just informed me that an Ex-Senator from Chicago, temporarily out of prison, will attend the Mardi Gras party on Tuesday- however, he'll still be in prison garb! Since he's under surveillance, maybe we can get him to hand out the beads & doubloons! Even if you can't make the pancake part at 6:00 PM, the Mardi Gras festivities start around 7:00 PM, but come early to get a good seat!

  84. CAPTAIN OF THE KREWE OF BAYSHORE has just sent an engraved invitation to the debutante of 2009. All we know for certain is that her initials are S. E. B. at Bayshore - now you have to come to see who the lovely young maiden will be at the ball! We also have just learned that there are 4 stashes of Mardi Gras loot within the bldg. The 2nd & 11th floor have some, even had to get some of stuffed in the refrigerator ????? Come in costume!

    GRAPEVINE says that the shaving of the Zulu coconut has started! Kay Stafford #404 is in charge of the shaving & decoration of the coconut to transform it into a ZULU's Golden Nugget. Bayshore is having an absolutely authentic Mardi Gras party, New Orleans style. See you in your costumes on Mardi Gras, 6:00 PM

  86. The Krewe of Bayshore had the Royal Roads in the Kingdom repainted for the coronation. Therefore, Country Club Road & Bayshore Drive leading to the Royal Entrance has been painted with GOLD lines to mark the Royal entrance way.

    Word was that Pres. Ray Hickey #1208 realized he would not be in charge for 1 night, so he had a "24 - hr flu"??? However, Carla came by to do an inspection and said that the Royal Banquet Hall was very Regal!
    Now we hear that Pres. Ray will be sending Confetti Cake Ice Cream as tribute for future Krewe of Bayshore parties.

  92. Special Thanks to New Orleans Consultant I Ibsie (Elizabeth Gremillion) #304 who instructed the Captain on the Value of Secrecy as to who the King & Queen of the Krewe of Bayshore would be. Ibsie also inspected the coconut that it had been properly decorated as received from the Zulu and transormed into a Golden Nugget. The beautiful face was an exact replica of a Krewe of Bayshore member. :)

  113. BULLETIN; The Navy Hospital just got a 3 wk supply of the Shingles Vaccine! The NEW CDC protocol is if one is age 60+ & not to have an weakened immune system. Now, the CDC also want people who have HAD shingles to get the vaccine to prevent a reoccurence. HURRY UP while supplies last--this is one difficult to find & expensive vaccine, BUT BELIEVE ME, YOU DON'T EVER WANT SHINGLES!

They also got a preview of the activities for the BIG IRISH BALL on Tues. at 6:00 PM!

  159. The McGraths #302 had a shillelagh on disply at the Irish Ball! A shillelagh is a "walking stick" or can be used as a war club. It often had a strap on it and all the families in Ireland had some & knew how to use it.

  160. A brass Claddagh doorknocker from Ireland was given as a gift of friendship to Helen & Larry MCGrath #302 by Rita Maher #205. It originated in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh, located just outside the old walls of the city of Galway. The ring was first produced in the 17th century during the reign of Queen Mary II, though elements of the design are much older. It is just a gift of friendship & appreciation to the McGraths.

  164. Beach Sightings! This time a duck decided to lay an egg on our pier-it is by the first seating area. A duck egg's incubation period is 22 days, but this one only lasted 2 days before it broke. Some things are not meant to be!

  165. The beautiful Agapanthus are now blooming outside the garage. The plants comes in indigo, blue or white flowers--Bayshore has blue & a white one. This plant is also known as Lillies of the Nile, a nice reminder of those who have floated up the Nile River Banks in Egypt where these lovely, delicate flowers have graced the banks for centuries.

  168. THE FISH ARE BITING! There is fishing and catching and Bayshore has both on their super looooong pier. Also, there is cast netting every week, just scoooping up all this scenic white sandy bay has to offer. Oh, the crabs are running now! Sunrises and Sunsets are terrific to enjoy too. This is Pensacola at its best!

  169. What a GREAT HAWAIIAN LUAU AT BAYSHORE! Over 50+ congenial Bayshore people in attendance and in Hawaiian attire. Hula dancing, authentic food from the territorial times, Don Ho music, shrunken heads, fortune cookies, skewered veggies, banana leaves, banana flowers & bananas on the stalk, so much! I especially liked the anthuriums & orchid leis from Hawaii that arrived that day airshipped from Hawaii. Lots of photos to boot--it is so good to see everyone there. Mr. House had also had a Happy Birthday, even sung in Hawaiian. Many thanks to Helen McGrath for being the chief chef and everyone who attended this lovely, family friendly evening!

  170. The Construction Committee has announced that renovations and improvements to the structure will begin in Nov. Bayshore will have quite a beautiful & elegant structural makeover. I think that this is the best condominium in Pensacola & has lots of improving value! We are fortunate to have such an enlightened board that is methodically planning this mission.

  175. We had a blast of a good time at the Hawaiian Luau with over 50 people attending. Special note were the 3 little girls in the blue, pink & purple grass skirts, several mumus, big bananas stalks with clusters of bananas, neon rope lights, Don Ho music and in-residence artist Bobbe Weeks doing sketches. Oh, I forgot to mention all the Hawaiian food-the teriyaki chicken & steaks,plus roast pig were a bit hit! It was also a birthday party for one of our residents, so we just expanded the party a bit, kind of a two for one. Everyone is eager for the next private party, but Rita & Helen need recuperation time.

  176. Already several Bayshore residents are beginning to make their dental apts. for the Fall Semester at PJC Dental Clinic--I've got mine and have helped 5 other people get enrolled. This if by far the best dental hygiene care available at a very nominal price--it helps the students and greatly helps the public to receive some of the best care available. That's where I go but then I am VERY PARTICULAR!

  178. Hmm, just a delicious snack! Several of the Luau party attendees divided up several of the banana stalk bananas. They said the fried "plantains" were delicious--I requested one and the guys are right! Ghee, I should have known that. Thanks Tyler Weeks for sharing this in-house banana treat. Tyler is so much of a team player and the #1 man we can count on at party time to help! He got all the bananas & cut up a couple of watermelons--the food was GREAT at the Luau!   179. MEDIC--word is that a tentative Vaccine Health Clinic will be held at Bayshore in Sept. This will be for Seasonal Influenza, Pneumococcal & Tetanus Vaccines. It is FREE if you have Medicare, Part B. The Swine Flu (H1N1) vaccine will be much later this yr. and one will need 2 doses of that, 3 wks apart to build antibodies. According to CDC, one needs a "pneumonia" shot after age 65 and Medicare Part B pays for it. Also a tetanus shot evry 10 yrs. We are working with Professional Medical Services to get as many people at Bayshore protected agst these airborne threats.

  180. Just a delightful children's story book - THE BOBBIE ANNE STORIES by Barbara Resler Weeks, published this yr. My kids just LOVED it, so I came down to the Bayshore bookshelvs to read it and now I can see why they loved it so much.
    Thank you Bobbe for authoring these lovely stories of your childhood. The story about "picking the berries" reminded me of my own childhood and I too have fond memories of the berries and parafin on glass jars. Thank you Bobbie--Bayshore has a lot of talented people.

  184. Rita C. Maher, MD, PhD, RS will be on WCOA Radio this weekend. Taris Savell is interviewing Dr. Maher on H1N1 (Swine Flu). H1N1 was declared by the World Health Organization to be an Influenza Pandemic in mid June 2009. It will be aired on Saturday at noon & again Sunday. at 9:00 AM. WCOA is at 1370 AM.

    That's what it's called, so a WELLNESS CLINIC is in the planning stages for all Bayshore residents & families. Hopefully, the Hurricane Committee can also present some helpful info at the same time.
    We all use the same front door & elevators, so keeping everyone healthy is of prime concern.

  187. STORM WATCH - Keep a watchful eye on Hurricane Ana & Bill this week. Let's hope that Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, etc. don't come to visit either!

  188. Well, tonight we expect "Claudette" to visit the Panhandle. It appears to be mostly a rain rather than wind event. Bayshore's elevators are stopped when the winds reach 35 mph. Already, residents at Bayshore are advised to remove things from their balconies.
    Might be a good idea to check your flashlight batteries to see if they still work!

  190. THANK YOU Stevens (Maintenance Man) for coming in this Sunday afternoon and moving the pool chairs & loungers into the East Corridor. Also, our inhouse MARINES WERE READY TO COME TO OUR RESCUE if further "muscle" help was needed. THANK YOU guys!

  191. STORM WATCHER Monday morn report from the Bayshore Patio Rm, at 8:30 AM - the skies have dark grey cloud bands, it is high tide & there are an increasing number of white caps. Half an hour ago, there were none. Water level is up to the bottom of the pier and coming from the SE. It is bright & sunny!

Many FREE services will be offered such as dental information & goodies, eyeglasses cleaned & adjusted, seasonal flu,pneumonia & tetanus shots (FREE if you have a Medicare Card, Part B) or small fee, International Vaccination Cards, Medication Charts, blood pressure screenings, fresh fruit & cookies, plus a social time.   195. The WELLNESS CLINIC was a big HIT! Over 30 flu & pneumonia shots were provided by Professional Health Examiners & PJC Dental Hygiene Clinic was well represented. It was a good turnout especially considering this was the 1st time - in THIS bldg. Residents will be better protected this yr. The Seasonal Flu targets the over 49 age group and H1N1 (swine) flu targets the under 49 group - go get YOUR flu shot if you missed this - Walgreens has them for $24.99!

  198. I have been in Bayshore once and though my vacation in this beautiful place is short yet I was able to go to the beach like Dunsborough’s Bayshore Resort and enjoy life’s simple pleasure and I also got the chance to visit other places and experience the scenic view of Bayshore.

  199. This place is SPECIAL - just came here from Michigan where it is already cold. I think I'd like to live in a place like Pensacola where others come to vacation. Bayshore has some attractive features - just walked out on that pier and saw some guys catching reds & a young girl with a cast net - sure looks easy. It is right next to the golf course, so this has it all. They are STILL swimming here in the pool!

  200. Bayshore is getting 2 new elevators - the contract went to the Otis Elevator Company. The front of the entrance way will be reskinned with stainless steel and lots of new things will be added - fortunately, we can keep the beautiful mosaic floors. A lot of excellent reserch was put into this project - very well donel. It should take 2-3 months per elevator to redo this.
